CDC Reports on Tuberculosis Among Children in U.S.

The current case definition for tuberculosis may be inadequate for young children, according to a report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Researchers Xilla T. Ussery and colleagues from the CDC's Division of Tuberculosis Elimination suggest that more specific criteria for diagnosing or confirming tuberculosis is needed in young children, and a better method for incorporating information about confirmed epidemiologic links to known TB cases is also warranted.
