"Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome In Western Paraguay."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 45th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, held December 1-5, 1996, in Baltimore, Maryland, "In November 1995, 2 persons in Paraguay were confirmed by laboratory evaluation to have Sin Nombre virus (SNV)-like hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS). An investigation was conducted in December 1995 to determine whether or not an outbreak had occurred. Medical records were examined at two area hospitals for patients diagnosed with HPS-like illnesses from 1987 to 1995.
