"Baculovirus Expressed Recombinant Pneumococcal Surface Adhesin A (rPsaA) of Streptococcus pneumoniae Serotype 6B Generates Murine Antibodies Capable of Passive Protection in an Infant Mouse Model

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 97th General Meeting of the American Society for Microbiology, held May 4-8, 1997, in Miami Beach, Florida, "Pneumococcal surface adhesin A (PsaA) with a molecular mass of 37kDa is a common protein expressed by all S. pneumoniae serotypes. We have expressed PsaA as a nonfusion protein in both Sf9 and High Five insect cells using the baculovirus expression system. rPsaA was partially purified by partitioning in PBS/Triton X-114 buffer and by D5 ion exchange filter chromatography.
