This was the finding of researchers from Nashville, Tennessee's Vanderbilt University who surveyed adolescents and their parents regarding their knowledge and perceived risk of hepatitis B virus (HBV), as well as their potential compliance with an HBV vaccination series.
More than one million people in the United States have chronic hepatitis B infection, and approximately 4,000 to 5,000 deaths each year result from long-term hepatitis B infection.
