Michigan Makes Greatest Gain in Immunization Levels

Governor John Engler announced that Michigan had the most dramatic increase in the number of two-year-old children who have been vaccinated against diseases in the nation.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released 1996 state immunization level figures, and Michigan immunization levels have increased to 76 percent.

"This is outstanding news in our efforts to protect children from deadly disease. This dramatic 15 percent increase is excellent news that Michigan's immunization initiatives are on the right track," said Engler.
