Program Could Help Improve Vaccination Rates in U.S.

Educating medical students about the importance of vaccinations could help decrease the death rate from preventable diseases such as influenza, pneumococcal pneumonia, and hepatitis B.

Richard Kent Zimmerman, MD, MPH., from University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and colleagues found that Teaching Immunization for Medical Education (TIME) materials substantially increase knowledge about immunization and vaccine-preventable diseases and were well received by learners and facilitators.
