CDC Campaign Educates Consumers, Physicians About H. pylori

"If you're one of 25 million Americans with a peptic ulcer, you may be pleasantly surprised to learn that you could be suffering from a curable infection," according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Nine out of every 10 ulcers are caused by a bacterial infection, which can be cured with appropriate antibiotics.

Many Americans suffering from ulcers do not know that ulcers are caused by an infection and can be cured with antibiotics. A new CDC report shows that most consumers are unaware of the link between ulcers and the bacterium Helicobacter pylori.
