Committee Recommends Routine Use of Vaccine in Infants

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted to recommend routine use of the first vaccine developed to prevent rotavirus gastroenteritis in infants.

The committee will approve the official draft of this recommendation after the rotavirus vaccine is licensed for use by the FDA. Rotavirus gastroenteritis is the most common cause of severe and sometimes fatal diarrhea in children.
