ALF Issues Wake-Up Call About HCV Disease

Published in Medical Letter on the CDC and FDA, May 18th, 1998

The American Liver Foundation (ALF), San Diego, California, Chapter unveiled a billboard campaign on hepatitis C.

ALF chose California's capital as the setting for the billboard campaign with the intent of generating awareness of the disease in the minds of Californians.

"The hepatitis C virus is alarmingly prevalent in the United States, yet the American public is virtually unaware of it," said William G. Hardison, M.D., San Diego Chapter of the American Liver Foundation. "We hope the nature of these billboards will encourage people to talk about hepatitis C and provoke them into seeking information about the risk factors and treatment."
