According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 14th Annual Clinical Virology Symposium and Annual Meeting of the Pan American Society for Clinical Virology, held April 26-29, 1998, in Clearwater Beach, Florida, "The utility of detecting IgA antibodies against an HCMV in active infection has not been demonstrated with current enzyme immunoassays (EIA).
