According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the International Conference on Emerging Infectious Diseases, held March 8-11, 1998, in Atlanta, Georgia, "Objectives/Methods: HIV transmission in the nonurban South is a growing public health problem. We sought to better understand the epidemic in AL by conducting comprehensive interviews of HIV infected persons living in rural/small city AL at sites throughout the state.
