In Lyme, No Rush for Vaccine

A Lyme Disease vaccine is getting the cold shoulder in the wooded enclave that gave the disease its name.

Experts say that if the LYMErix vaccine (SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals) is going to be successful anywhere, Connecticut ought to be the place. Connecticut has the highest rate of the disease in the country - 105 cases per 100,000 people in 1998.

But five months after the vaccine came on the market, local doctors say people are not exactly lining up for injections.
