U.S. To Prepare for Next Flu Pandemic

But it soon will be, promised Martin Myers of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in a presentation to the American Society for Microbiology's 39th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC), held September 26-29, 1999, in San Francisco, California.
Myers announced that a National Vaccine Advisory Committee (NVAC) Influenza Planning Group is being created to develop guidelines for state and local planning.
"Local planning is absolutely critical," Myers stressed.
