Incidence of Acinetobacter Infections Down

The rate of Acinetobacter infections shows a downward trend overall, but infections are still most prevalent from July to October, according to a study from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

McDonald et al. analyzed "infections reported by hospitals in the National Nosocomial Infections Surveillance System that performed adult and pediatric intensive care surveillance from 1987 through 1996" (Seasonal Variation of Acinetobacter Infections: 1987-1996," Clin Infect Dis 1999;29(5):1133-1137).
