ALS Association Applauds Launch of U.S. Study

The Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association (ALSA) extends its full support and gratitude to those Federal agencies, led by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), for the launch of a nationwide study to determine the rate of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis among military veterans who were on active duty during the Gulf War.

The study, which will be directed by the Epidemiologic Research and Information Center at the VA Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina, is a collaboration involving VA, DoD, Health and Human Services (HHS) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
