Compliance with Screening for Methicillin-Resistant Staph. aureus Only Moderate

Researchers from the McGill University Hospital in Montreal, Canada, recently conducted a study examining hospital compliance with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) screening.

They reported only moderate compliance in following the screening policy.

"There has been an increase in the rates of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in acute care and long term facilities in Canada," explained V.G. Loo and colleagues. In an attempt to control MRSA transmission, the 450-bed tertiary care center in Montreal began requiring patients transferred from other locations be screened for MRSA upon admission.
