Sedation Safer In Hospital Setting

A recent study found that when children undergo procedures requiring sedation they are more likely to have adverse outcomes when treated in a non-hospital-based setting.

To determine the relationship between sedation and adverse outcomes in children, C.J. Cote and colleagues at Northwestern University's Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, conducted a study using data on adverse sedation events obtained from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's adverse drug event reporting system, the U.S. Pharmacopoeia, and from a pediatric specialist survey.
