Millions of American Children and Teens Affected

Millions more children and adolescents in the United States than previously thought endure the detrimental effects of exposure to lead, according to a new Children's Hospital Medical Center of Cincinnati, Ohio study.

The study found that lead is toxic at concentrations in the blood that are much lower than currently considered acceptable. The study was presented at the Joint Meeting of the Pediatric Academic Societies and the American Academy of Pediatrics held May 12-16, 2000, in Boston, Massachusetts.
