Continued Development of Coactinon Announced



September 3rd, 2000

Triangle Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (VIRS), Durham, North Carolina, announced its continued development of Coactinon in support of an NDA [New Drug Application] filing.

Coactinon is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) for the treatment of HIV infection. This action follows notification from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in December 1999 that additional Phase III studies would be required. Study MKC-401 was ongoing at the time.
