Guidelines Issued for Safe Use of Snowmobiles by Children

A child younger than 16 should not be allowed to drive snowmobiles, says the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) in its journal Pediatrics. Each state regulates use of snowmobiles in public areas, leading to a range of rules and certification processes across the U.S. Because snowmobiles pose a "significant risk" to children and adolescents, a new AAP policy statement recommends that state legislatures pass new laws regulating their use by children.
