Foreign-Born People in the U.S. Have High Rate of Tuberculosis

The tuberculosis case rate among foreign-born people in the United States was markedly higher than among those born in the U.S. during the years 1993 to 1998, report U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention researchers. And, the number of tuberculosis cases among foreign-born people living in the United States increased slightly during that period, according to their report, published in the December 13, 2000, issue of The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA, 2000;284:2894-2900).
