Follow-Up Report of Theft of AIDS Drug Suggests a Business Dispute

A report by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) about an experimental AIDS drug allegedly stolen from a storage facility in Raleigh, North Carolina, might be more of a business dispute than a criminal caper.

On Friday, December 22, 2000, the FDA described the goat-derived serum as "extremely dangerous" and warned patients and health facilities to be alert for anyone trying to sell it. The FDA said its warning was triggered by a letter from Dr. Gary Davis.

In the letter, Davis asserted that 80 liters of the medication was in the possession of a Steve Migliaccio, a Raleigh man who heads Immuno Therapeutic International Inc. Davis wrote that...
