Study Looks at Case Management Intervention to Improve Access to Care

A clinical study seeking to determine whether a case management intervention will improve attendance and usage of HIV health care services by individuals newly diagnosed with HIV infection began at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia, and local-area health departments and testing centers on January 1, 2001.

The Antiretroviral Treatment and Access Study (ARTAS) is funded with a multi-site, four-year grant by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC) and will look specifically at strategies to increase access to care for low-income, HIV infected persons.
