Condom Misconceptions Abound Among Sexually Active Adolescents

by N.R. Saltmarsh, staff medical writer - The combustible mix of ignorance and sexual activity is underscored by new data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health, which reveal that many sexually active adolescents don't have their facts straight when it comes to condom use.

The more sexually experienced adolescents were, the less likely they were to believe common myths about condoms, but there are safer ways to gain that education, said researchers at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
