Weight Loss May Reverse Effects

Successful weight loss decreases the risk of developing diabetes and may alleviate non-insulin dependent diabetes in patients who have been diagnosed five years or less.

People who have been affected by diabetes for longer may have improved symptom control with weight loss, according to Susan Z. Yanovski, MD, a leading expert in obesity.
