Stephen D. Lawn and colleagues at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland conducted a study to evaluate "the impact of the host inflammatory microenvironment associated with localized tuberculosis (TB) on human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) replication within lymphocytes and macrophages in vivo."
HIV replication occurred much more rapidly in the presence of active tuberculosis...
