Early Recognition And Prompt Treatment Critical In Inhaled Anthrax

Detailed examination of four recent cases of patients in the Washington, DC, area with inhalational anthrax, two of which ended in death, indicate that early diagnosis of a person with nonspecific symptoms is difficult yet important, and rapid treatment with appropriate antibiotics may reduce the risk of death, according to two articles in the November 28, 2001, issue of The Journal of the American Medical Association.
