Unwarranted Use Of Cipro Means Unnecessary Risk Of Kidney Damage

The American Kidney Fund (AKF) is warning Americans who may wish to take Cipro as a precautionary measure against anthrax that they could be exposing their kidneys to serious harm.

With numerous reports that thousands of people are attempting to obtain the powerful antibiotic by any means possible, the risk of Cipro misuse resulting in kidney disease or kidney failure is increasing. There is no cure for kidney failure. The only existing treatments are kidney dialysis and kidney transplantation.
