Implementation of these recommendations can reduce transmission of hepatitis infections among adults at risk in both correctional facilities and the outside community. It's estimated that 12-15% of all Americans with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) and 39% of those with hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections were released from a correctional facility during the previous year.
