Interferon may prevent hepatocellular carcinoma associated with hepatitis C

"The possibility that interferon-alpha might be effective for the prevention or treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma is suggested by its efficacy against the associated hepatitis B and C viruses, by its efficacy in the treatment of some other human tumors, and by evidence that interferon-alpha may inhibit the growth of human hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines and their production of hepatitis B surface antigen," a scientist in the United States reports.
