Canadian drug supplier says products safe

The head of a Canadian mail-order company supplying prescription drugs to the Springfield, Massachusetts, employee benefit program said on September 18, 2003, that the drugs are safe despite criticism from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

G. Anthony Howard, chief executive of CanaRx Services, said after a meeting with Springfield Mayor Michael Albano that the medicines all come from certified Canadian pharmacies and are shipped properly.

Albano, who also met with FDA officials in Washington, DC, said he was determined to continue the money-saving program that allows city workers and retirees to buy prescription drugs from Canada.
