Culture may affect Hispanic women's use of birth control

Latinas who believe that women should stay at home and not work are four times more likely to have missed a few birth control pills than their counterparts with a more favorable impression of women in the workplace.

Those Hispanic women who had two or more sex partners in the last year and those who had been taking birth control pills for fewer than 6 months were also more likely to use the pills inconsistently, according to the Health Education and Behavior study.

Women who were regular churchgoers, though, were less likely to miss taking the pills, found Win Brown, PhD, of the University of Michigan and colleagues. Attitudes about working...
