The government said 38 states, including Wisconsin, were listed with widespread flu activity, down from 42 states in December. Colorado, which was one of the first states to be listed with the nation's highest flu outbreak level, has been downgraded to regional activity.
The flu season in the United States got off to an unusually early and harsh start, raising fears that this could be one of the deadliest seasons in years, especially among children.
