Postmenopausal estrogen guidelines for treating hot flashes released

A researcher outlines the latest recommendations for the treatment of hot flashes in a recent issue of JAMA - Journal of the American Medical Association.

"Use of postmenopausal estrogen has changed since the release of the first results from the Women's Health Initiative in 2002. Professional organizations, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force have issued new recommendations against use of estrogen and progestin or progesterone for prevention of chronic conditions," investigators in the United States report.
