Nebraska proposes 10-state bioterrorism alliance

Nebraska will use federal funding to work on developing a 10-state regional alliance to provide mutual aid in the event of bioterrorism or other public health emergencies, Governor Mike Johanns announced August 11, 2004. He made his comments at a meeting attended by representatives from Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska. The other states in the envisioned alliance would be North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, and Montana. Creating mutual aid agreements dealing with such things as emergency medical personnel and facilities would increase the ability to respond by pulling the region together, Johanns said. Charles...
