Clinic's participation in colon cancer drug study provides access to new therapy

Ocala Oncology Center, an affiliate of U.S. Oncology, Inc., (Nasdaq:USON), is bringing patients in the community a cutting-edge colon cancer therapy that in clinical trials has shown to be effective in improving colon cancer survival rates. Thomas H. Cartwright, MD, a medical oncologist at Ocala Oncology Center in Ocala, Florida, was a principal investigator for the study, lead by Genentech, using a new drug Avastin that inhibits tumor growth. U.S. Oncology enrolled more than 100 patients out of the 800 patients in the study. Cartwright played a key role in the study.
