Pharmaceutical company offers its alternative to recalled arthritis medication

With the recent recall of the arthritis medication rofecoxib, Boehringer Ingelheim announced that it is supporting patients while they look for new alternatives. The company offered up its own anti-inflammatory drug, MOBIC (melioxicam) as an alternative for patients to discuss with their physicans.

MOBIC has been available to patients in the U.S. since June 2000 for the relief of the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis. Earlier this year, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration also approved the use of MOBIC for treating the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis.
