Medical research company reports 14% increase in net sales during first quarter

Lannett company reported net sales of $15 million, a 14% increase from net sales of $13.2 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2004. The company said that the increase was primarily due to its expanded product offering, including Levothyroxine Sodium tablets, which were first marketed in September 2003. Lannett also reported operating income of $2.2 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2005, a 61% decrease as compared to operating income of $5.8 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2004. Lannett attributed this reduction primarily to an increase in amortization expenses of $1.7 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2005 versus the first quarter of fiscal 2004,...
