Healthcare use by U.S. veterans with spinal cord injury studied

According to a recent study, "In the USA, substantial geographic variation in healthcare utilization exists in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare system.

"Utilization of healthcare services is especially important for veterans with spinal cord injuries and disorders (SCI&D) who are often at high risk for secondary complications related to their SCI&D. Due to impaired mobility, access to healthcare for veterans with SCI&D may be even more challenging," said S.L. Lavela and colleagues, Department of Veterans Affairs, Hines, Illinois.
