Phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors in dietary supplements analyzed

Researchers have developed a method to analyze undeclared synthetic phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors in dietary supplements and herbal matrices using LC-ESI-MS and LC-UV. According to recent research published in the Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, "A liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS) method was developed to screen for the presence of synthetic phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE-5) inhibitors including sildenafil, tadalafil, and vardenafil.
