Rescue of Ebola virus from cDNA using heterologous support proteins studied

Researchers demonstrate the rescue of Ebola virus from cDNA using heterologous support proteins in a recent issue of Virus Research. According to a study from Canada and the United States, "Using the infectious clone for Zaire Ebola virus, the functional specificity of viral proteins of the ribonucleoprotein complex in transcription/replication was investigated by substituting them with heterologous proteins derived from closely (Reston Ebola virus) and distantly related filoviruses (Marburg virus).
