European approval granted for drug-eluting stent system

Angiotech Pharmaceuticals, Inc., (ANPI, ANP) corporate partner Boston Scientific Corp. (BSC) has received CE Mark for its Taxus Liberte paclitaxel-eluting stent system, a drug-eluting stent system. BSC plans to launch the product in European markets and other key CE Mark-dependent international markets immediately. Taxus Liberte was launched earlier this year in select international markets and is expected to launch in the United States in 2006.
