Liposomal amphotericin B is safe and effective for the treatment of pediatric visceral leishmaniasis. In a recent report, researchers in France described "liposomal amphotericin B (AmBisome) use as first line treatment of pediatric visceral leishmaniasis" and evaluated "the incidence of the disease in southern France" from a retrospective "chart review of children referred for visceral leishmaniasis from 1996 to 2003."
