According to a study from the United States, "Obesity increases the risk of developing major diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Adipose tissue, particularly adipocytes, may play a major role in the development of obesity and its comorbidities. The aim of this study was to characterize, in adipocytes from obese people, the most differentially expressed genes that might be relevant to the development of obesity."
