U.S. FDA surveillance of prescription drug advertising may change advertising practices

U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) surveillance of dermatology-related and nondermatology-related prescription drug advertising may lead to changes in advertising practices.

According to a recent report published in the British Journal of Dermatology, "Spending on advertising of prescription medicines in the U.S.A. is increasing by nearly a billion dollars yearly. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is legally mandated to regulate pharmaceutical advertising in the U.S."
