Accuracy of antibacterial and antifungal susceptibility tests is reported

Researchers report the performance accuracy of antibacterial and antifungal susceptibility test methods in a recent issue of the Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

According to that report, "The College of American Pathologists Microbiology Surveys Program provides external proficiency samples that monitor the performance of nearly 3,000 laboratories that perform and report antimicrobial susceptibility tests. Results obtained with bacterial and yeast challenge samples (2001 through 2003) were summarized."
