Population-based appraisal of small bowel obstruction is presented

Investigators present a population-based appraisal of small bowel obstruction in a recent issue of the Journal of the American College of Surgeons.

"Small bowel obstruction (SBO) is a common reason for surgical consultation, but little is known about the natural history of SBO. We performed a population-based analysis to evaluate SBO frequency, type of operation, and long-term outcomes," scientists in the United States report.
