In a pivotal study published in Hypertension, Exforge HCT® (amlodipine, valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide) – recently approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as the only three-in-one single pill for the treatment of high blood pressure – was shown to be more effective than the dual combination of its components in patients with moderate to severe hypertension (mean sitting systolic blood pressure [MSSBP] ≥ 145 mmHg and mean sitting diastolic blood pressure [MSDBP] ≥ 100 mmHg).
