Scientists call on FDA to update advice to Pregnant Women on Eating Fish

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) advice on fish consumption during pregnancy is being called out of date with current science that shows limiting consumption of all fish may be "inadvertently causing harm." According to two leading scientists, new evidence shows that eating more than 12 ounces of fish per week will improve fetal neurodevelopment. In an open letter and petition from Professors Tom Brenna of Cornell University and Michael Crawford of London Metropolitan University, the doctors are asking the FDA to update its recommendations to "provide advice consistent with the best science available."
