Walgreens September Sales Increase 5.3 Percent

Walgreens (NYSE:WAG)(NASDAQ:WAG) had September sales of $5.64 billion, an increase of 5.3 percent from $5.36 billion for the same month in fiscal 2010. Duane Reade stores, acquired in April 2010, contributed 2.8 percentage points to the total sales increase for the month.

Sales in comparable stores (those open at least a year) increased 0.4 percent. The effect of calendar day shifts negatively impacted total comparable sales by 0.1 percentage point. Duane Reade stores are not included in any comparable store results.

September pharmacy sales increased 4.1 percent, while comparable pharmacy sales increased 0.3 percent. The effect of calendar day...
